I started running in my early 40’s and I have loved it. I got faster, went further, saw places and I met wonderful people. Around my mid 40’s I was racing well (for me!), hitting PB’s (personal best) and feeling great. And then the wheels started to fall off and between covid lockdowns and personal injuries I found that the traditional training plans – written by men, for men, simply weren’t working for me anymore. Turns out perimenopause had arrived, and I hadn’t even noticed. The change in hormone levels plays havoc with our training, nutrition, strength and recovery. So, training needs to change.
I am an accredited running coach with Athletics Australia, and I have additional certifications, through both Stacy Sims: Menopause 2.0 and Girls Gone Strong: Menopause Coaching Specialist, in training perimenopausal and menopausal women.
If you are training for an event or are just starting to move and need support to minimise injury risk and meet your goal – I can help. From getting stronger, maintaining mobility and moving more, to a 5km run plan up to an ultramarathon.
If (when) we have a small group of interested ladies, I will introduce a weekly movement session targeting the things that are hard to do on your own. Short sprints. Hills. These will help us maintain muscle power and strength. If you are running fast and well or your idea of a sprint is a fast walk, so long as it gets you going, we can work from wherever you start.
Contact me now if you’d like more information or to have a free introductory chat about how we might work together.
