welcome

Hi! I’m Pieta

it’s nice to meet you.

If you live here in Canberra, Australia you might already know me – I’ve been around a while 😊, but if not, I’d love to introduce myself.

Like all of us (especially at this age!) there’s a lot to say to share my story but I’ll try to stick to the bits that are relevant to you.

I am a wife and mother to 3 kids (*cough*… adults).

I am a Mental Health counsellor, focused on women.  I have an interest in the 3 P’s – Puberty, Perinatal and Perimenopause – significant transitional times in women’s lives that I feel are undervalued, under resourced and often incredibly challenging.

I started Raging Gracefully specifically to provide Counselling, Coaching and Wellbeing support to those in the perimenopause/Menopause transition.

I’m also a local runner and a running coach (don’t worry I won’t make you run if you don’t want to!). Running has taught me that I can do hard things and that getting outside for some exercise makes everything a little better.

That said, the last few years, coming through my mid 40’s and into my 50’s has been challenging. Perimenopause hit me in many unexpected ways – the Rage: And Anxiety: And Insomnia!! Who knew?!?! I certainly didn’t.

My physical health, my mental health, my sense of self has changed. My sense of community and support and my confidence in my ability to navigate these challenges was shaken.

So… as I’ve found my way through, I thought about the things I have found helpful, the areas I have wished were better supported and how I could change the status quo for other women.

And Raging Gracefully was born.

Raging Gracefully is a safe space for those in the **perimenopause transition** to:
** see below to see if this is you!

Get some counselling: telehealth or walk and talk. A time for you to share what’s happening for you. I can offer an ear, mental health strategies and treatment primarily using CBT, ACT and SFT. I have a keen interest in somatic therapies and calming our nervous system.

Get some coaching: As a runner I know my training needs have changed dramatically so for those of you who are struggling with performance and are unsure what to change, training plans are in my wheelhouse. If there is interest, then I’ll add a ‘run group’ where we can work on sessions that will help you continue to run and be active but are hard to do on your own! I can also help those keen to start moving more.

Access a range of specialist services. Lots of things are outside my scope, but I have networks of professionals I am able to utilise or refer to.

Build An online community focused on wellbeing, movement, nutrition and mental health tips and strategies and hopefully some laughs.

If you’re wondering exactly what I mean by the **Perimenopause Transition** and if you could be a client.

If you are looking for support and:

  • You suspect you are perimenopausal or you are in early menopause
  • You have had surgically induced menopause
  • You are experiencing a medically induced menopause
  • If you are in your late 30’s+ and are experiencing symptoms that might be perimenopause (I can help you if you’re not sure)
  • If you have a partner that is going through the journey and you require support (yes, I’m happy to support men…let’s call it Manopause.)

Please reach out if you have any questions or would like a chat before deciding if this is the fit for you.
